I had the opportunity today to chat with another student Brian Grovereau on an online article about the  3 social trends that will influence education. One thing that we both agreed was that the norm of learning on line is getting bigger and bigger and staying current can be a challenge. Brian and I were fascinated by how many people go online to learn .Also how many different types of learners exist. We both agreed that it is hard to stay in the know of all the different social medias. The article we focused on was Debbie Morrison (2013) you can read the full article by clicking on the link below:

Morrison talks about three social trends that influence education:

  1. Being able to “collaborate seamlessly whether distance or face-to-face”
  2. “Humanizing interactions in online learning, meetings, presentation and classroom learning”
  3. “Personalizing learning experiences where learners are taking control of their learning” (2013)

MOOC (Massive open online course) is becoming quite a trend where the learner has access to free learning. I think we are going to see this trend keep growing. Also on line learning has provided so many different ways to access education with the learner being anywhere in the world. I was aware of this tren while for Brian it was something completely new. This just tells you that technology is moving so fast. I am curious to see what happens with the online learning in the next five years. I predict most adult learning is going to trend towards this because of our busy lifestyles.
